Igloo hat is inspired by the shape of traditional house in Central Arctic and the Qaanaaq area. The name also means snow hut which indicates to keep you warm. This hat is a hearty addition to your winter accessory collection. Moreover, it doesn’t take a long time to make it!

Head Circumference:  54 - 60 cm [21.3 - 23.6 inches]

Hat Brim:  5.5 cm [2 inches]

 

SUGGESTED NEEDLES

6 mm [US 10] circular needles ( 40 or 60 cm [16 or 24 inches] )

5 mm [US 8] circular needles ( 40 or 60 cm [16 or 24 inches] )

OR required needle size to obtain gauge

6 mm [US 10] double-pointed needles (15 cm [6 inches] ) - If not knitting with magic loop method

 

GAUGE

In brioche stitch using 6 mm [US 10] needles

9 sts x 26 rows (13 knit stitches in brioche stitch) = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches]

In brioche stitch using 5 mm [US 8] needles

11 sts x 38 rows (19 knit stitches in brioche stitch) = 10 x 10 cm [4 x 4 inches]

 

SIZE GUIDE

The hat is intended for a dome loose crown and fitted at binding off edge with a puff brim. To achieve a neat and consistent fit at bind-off, sewing an elastic thread along the inside circumference is recommended.

50 gr.         Daruma, Cashmere Lily, 50 gr. / 210 m - Dark Oak

100 gr.       Woollentwine, 4ply, 100 gr. / 400 m - Walnut

25 gr.         Isager, Silk Mohair, 25 gr. / 212 m - 7s

  • Knit the hat holding 1 strand of each suggested yarn together.

Approx. 1 m of knitting elastic (optional)

3 strands of any fingering (4ply) yarn holding together OR

1 strand of fingering (4ply) yarn holding together with 1 strand of any light worsted or DK (8ply) yarn
